About / Contact

EcoRove is a collaborative, multimedia, research project and co-collaborative production studio examining the politics of critical zones and the livelihood of humans and non-human species who dwell in them. Our mission is to empower individuals and organizations to share knowledge, data, and narratives that re-contextualize eco-socio-political dynamics through a broad spectrum of documentary, scientific, and technological approaches. In 2020, EcoRove was awarded the Arab Fund for Art & Culture Fine Arts Grant for their project Cedar Exodus, which was exhibited at The New Museum in 2023 - 2024. They have been published in “Pre-Occupied Thoughts” (Al-Rawiya, 2024), and participated in WORLDING 2025 at MIT.

Where Can We Be Found?

Where Can We Be Found? is a 43-minute experimental documentary blending landscape footage, animation, and interviews to explore the contemporary state of Lebanon's Cedar trees (Cedrus libani). It critically examines the Cedar's dual role as a symbol of eternity and a victim of human exploitation, from climate change and tourism to its use in constructing national identity. By reframing the Cedar as a living entity within a shared ecosystem, the film challenges its cultural and ecological misrepresentations.

Exploited is a 8 min 2D animated drawing that addresses the extraction and consumption of the Lebanese Cedar tree (Cedrus libani) by various civilizations throughout history.

Trapped is a 8 min 2D animated drawing that contrasts the Lebanese Cedar’s use as a symbol within present-day Lebanon’s political and social spheres with changes to the country’s climate and ecology.

Foraging Alternative Ecosystems

Foraging Alternative Ecosystems seeks to support and empower citizens with methods for rewilding and living in communion with diminished landscapes through foraging and the nurturing of biodiversity via the redeployment of indigenous, wild, edible plants.
